Smarter Sorting Closes Deal with RTP Ventures

NAN investee company Smarter Sorting officially closed a $2.5 million investment with RTP Ventures, the lead investor in their current round of funding. To date they have raised $5.3 Million total and $2.9 Million in this round alone. Congratulations to founders Chris Ripley and Charlie Vallely for this milestone.

BoomersPlus Within Reach of Fundraising Goal: Ontario Expansion On Its Way

  Thanks to an injection of funds from the founders, the Niagara Angels and others, BoomersPlus is now within $130,000 of reaching its $700,000 goal. Innovacorp, which is a Nova Scotia funded corporation that buys into start-ups has offered an equity purchase of $350,000. In turn, BoomersPlus is expected to raise $700,000 in new funds to match Innovacorp’s contribution.

This funding will provide the runway for Ontario expansion.

In a unanimous show of support, the Board of Boomers pledged to cover whatever is required to close the round 3-4 weeks before the May 31stdeadline. The round will raise in excess of $1 million.

Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Gala

NAN was pleased to attend the Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Gala held February 23rd at the White Oaks Resort and Spa. It was a fantastic evening showcasing the best and brightest in Niagara. We would like to congratulate Larry Boggio from Boggio Pharmacies as this year’s recipient of the Community Contribution Award as well as Len Pennachetti, Cave Springs Cellars for the Lifetime Achievement Award.

First Look Angel Investment Meeting: 20 Companies to Network with Niagara and GTA Angel Groups

Members of the Niagara Angel Network are again invited to the First Look Angel Investment meeting to be held Wednesday, May 30 from 7 pm to 10 pm at Mississauga City Hall. Up to 20 high-potential early stage companies will be selected by 5 regional innovation centres including Innovate Guelph, Innovation Factory, Innovate Niagara, Haltech and the RIC Centre. This is a great opportunity to engage with other Angel investors throughout southern Ontario.
